Abstract (EN)

In this research, the role of education on identity formation period as the results of social, cultural, economical and political adaptation of the people who immigrated from East Anatolia and Southeastern Anatolia to Adana after 1980 is analyzed.In this research, both literature and field study have been done. The source data consists of 170 house members in different age, gender, income and education groups, immigrated from East Anatolia and Southeastern Anatolia to Adana to whom a questionnaire with 51 questions formed by the researcher is applied.When we analyze research data, based on education level, diversity has been seen on immigrants' social, political and economical adaptation. It has been determined that the formal education has an effect on immigrants' identity formation. Parallel with education level, variety has been seen on behaviours like describing themselves, spoken language, feeling different than the others, loyalty to the traditions and feeling close to other groups.Keywords: Immigration, Education, Identity, Social Adaptation
