Abstract (EN)

In this study, it has been studied on the subject choice and the symbol use in Turkish art works which belong to the term of the beginning 1980s up to our date and their effects on the artists. Firstly the main subjects in the roots of Turkish painting and the symbols used have been investigated by considering historical process. And secondly synchronized improvements from all around the world and their effects o on Turkish paınting are also taken into consideration.The 1980s can be thought as the most influential years on the foundation of the cultural identity of the Turkish people. Following these years, the end of the 20th century is considered as the term that political and the ideological methods have failed and therefore the search of new methods appeared.In this term, postmodernism which is discussed intellectually and artistically has moved Turkish painting into a new era by means of subject and symbol. By this manner, after the end of 1980s, various kind objects spanning many different subjects has been correlated with a wide variety of symbols.In addition to; it has been focused on the subject and the symbol which are the two of the most discussed concepts by art critics, philosophers and art historiographers, by considering the frame of theoretical concepts. In the light of the information obtained from the chosen paintings have been analyzed by means of subject and symbol using homogeneous sampling method.
