Abstract (EN)

IX. and XX. The Industrial Revolution of the 20th century brought new techniques to architecture. The Crystal Palace structure at the first World's Fair (EXPO) built in London's Hyde Park in 1851 marked the beginning of the Industrial Revolution in Architecture. Exactly 45 years later, at the All-Russian Industrial Art Exhibition, the architect-engineer V.G. Shukhov presented the hyperboloid tower, and traces of computational design underlying computer-aided design and manufacturing technologies, which have increased today's usage area, were found in the tower. The aim of the thesis is to answer the question of whether there are traces of computational design in the Soviet architecture of the twentieth century after the Industrial Revolution. For this, the projects made between 1896 and 1990 were analyzed in the computational design paradigm. Within the scope of the thesis, the projects of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, and non-USSR Japan (Osaka) and the Dominican Republic, which were formerly in the USSR, were examined. Working stages are divided into four sections: general information, studies, analysis of sample structures and findings, results, and suggestions. As a result, the primitive forms of computational design-geometry, computational design methods and production-were found in the architectural examples of Soviet modernism and constructivism. Key Words: Computational design, Soviet modernism, Constructivism, Algorithmic design, Generative design, Parametric design
