Abstract (EN)

Postmodern thought based on the critique of modernity is thought to be a rebellion against modernism. Postmodern thought rejects phenomena representing modernity and recalls the phenomena excluded by modernity. Postmodern culture defends the rejection of urban and rational individual and positivist scientific knowledge as determined by modernity. In this sense, postmodernity criticizes modern urban culture and emphasizes the countryside outside modernity. In this context, the provincial phenomenon which has been continuously processed in Turkish cinema has re-emerged after 2000 with some changes. Recep İvedik film series, which has the highest watching ratio of Turkish cinema after 2000, seems to be related to provincial-urban antagonism and postmodern culture. The aim of this thesis is to analyze Recep İvedik film series with postmodern theories.
