Abstract (EN)

This study employs Turkish Statistical Institute's Life Satisfaction Survey data belonging to the 2004-2013 period. This study has two main parts but, overall, it is argued that national income accounts (such as GDP) are insufficient to measure well-being, thus, policy-makers may benefit from the conclusions drawn in this study. In the first part of this study, well-being levels of Turkish citizen are depicted via three scenarios and twelve standardised indicators which are common for the analysis period. Next, the determinants of happiness are analysed via a larger dataset and a wider variable set including novel variables- compared to previous studies in Turkish literature.
