Abstract (EN)
This research is realized to bring out the teachers? opinion about Primary Education Science and Technology Course which was prepared by Turkish Republic Ministry of Education Head Council of Education and Morality in 2004 in the frame of education program reform and started in 2006-2007 and gradually continuing on 7th and 8th grade as well. The research is composed of 72 6th, 7th, and 8th grade science and technology teachers working in 35 different primary schools in central town Antakya in Hatay.Data is acquired by using semi-configured (structured) interview form to support the survey form and the survey including 50 questions and 14 proposing items which are developed by the researcher and under the control and supervising of a specialist. During the analysis of data, frequency, percentages and arithmetical mean are figured out.The teachers participated in the research made some explanations on the new science and technology program related to the positive (strong) ways of program declaring that students acquire science literacy, scientific attitudes and values, interest on technological innovation, active participation, less anxiety on science courses and the training is more based on student centric and integrated in to life.The teacher?s negative (weak) opinions about the program are; prepared general and aiming at the ideal one, rapidly moving to practice, couldn?t be understood well enough, teachers? opinions are not reflected on the program, time allocation is not sufficient in application, mathematical approaches are reduced, not in accordance with the following (subsequent) education institutions and bringing about the students to enroll private courses.While responding the majority of the proposals in the survey, the teachers wish the in-service training to be more qualified, the problem of crowded classes to be solved, to have the basic facilities, materials and have additional resources for training in order to apply the new program better.
