Abstract (EN)

Our country is one of the countries that will be affected in a way that causes loss of life and property due to its presence on active earthquake belts. In order to reduce the possible losses, it is very important that the new structures are designed and constructed in accordance with the current earthquake regulations. It is an important issue in terms of reducing the loss of life and property by examining the existing building stock, determining earthquake performance and strengthening if needed. The new structures, which need to be strengthened by determining performance criteria, must be designed according to the provisions of TBDY-2018 in force. In this study, a 5-storey reinforced concrete school building located in Bilecik; According to the provisions of DBYBHY-2007 and TBDY-2018, necessary analysis and strengthening recommendations were presented and differences were presented. In DBYBHY-2007, the school building, which was at the performance level of migrant prevention, met the safety performance level criteria with the proposed strengthening plan. According to TBDY-2018, it was determined that the school building met the performance target for DD-1 but not for DD-3. With the proposed strengthening plan, DD-3 has met the continuous use performance level criteria for ground movement level. According to the provisions of DBYBHY-2007 and TBDY-2018, it was observed that there were many differences in terms of the principles of inspection, evaluation and strengthening for the school building.
