Abstract (EN)
In this study, the concept of Postmodern War, claimed to have emerged as a result of changes and transformations in the nature of war since the second half of the 20th century, particularly following World War II, is examined. To understand Postmodern War, this paper first discusses the period from the Renaissance to postmodernism and explores how war evolved during these eras. It then analyzes Modern War as the reflection of those historical processes on warfare, and finally examines the period referred to as Postmodern War, about which there is ongoing debate regarding its existence, based on available findings. According to most military historians, the period from the 16th century until the mid-20th century is called Modern War. Etymologically, postmodernism, with the prefix 'post,' denotes 'that which comes after modernism.' Various terminologies have been used to define the period following Modern War, most of which are based on the new technologies of their respective eras in the military field. Postmodern War is a strong proposition in terms of periodization after Modern War, both because it follows Modern War and due to the reflections of postmodern culture in the realm of warfare.
