Abstract (EN)

This study, which examines the Urfa Sher'iyye Registry No. 211, analyzes the case minutes between the dates H. 1292-1293 / 1875-1876. The registry book, which consists of two hundred and twentyeight pages, contains records on the division of inheritance, appointment of guardian/guardian, receivable and payable transactions, inheritance, mehir and alimony cases. These records cover a period of one year and include legal proceedings that were referred to the court. Most of the applications to the court were made by the residents of the neighborhoods in the city center, although there are a few applications from rural areas to the Urfa kadi court. Since the parcel registers contain items of material culture, many personal items used in daily life can be listed. The appointment of a guardian/guardian, which legally deals with the rights and supervision of children, reveals the way an orphan in need of care was cared for until the age of majority. The transactions between city dwellers indirectly reflect the economic situation of the period. Inheritance divisions allow us to see the reflexes of family members, while mehir and alimony cases allow us to analyze the ways in which the women of Urfa sought their rights. Therefore, these records, which contain extremely important information for local history research, stand out as sources that provide insights into the social, economic and cultural life of the period.
