Abstract (EN)

With the contribution of the new technologies, basic and static principles of graphic design begins' to take new forms and expressions. With the rapid progress in technology, especially in digital technology, the role of graphic design in mass communication is getting harder and that consequently leads designers in search for a new and more creative visual language. This new visual language can be established by altering the visual perception. The application forms of anamorphic art, which has its origins in Renaissance art, has become an important resource for todays artists and designers with its remarkable feature that alters people's perception. This technique, which has been embraced by sculptors and painters, is yet a new practice in graphic design discipline. Application of the factors that form the perception and the visual perception as the concepts of 2-dimension and 3-dimension, space, depth and perspective have shaped art with their application in various interpretations and illusions over centuries. Considering graphic design as a whole in the space and adding a different dimension, adapting it as a 2D design form in a 3D design and taking its form with a visual illusion forms the basis of the applications within the scope of this thesis. By investigating the methods and interpretations of the contemporary artists and designers, a new visual language based on their work is tried to be discovered. 20th century modernism has evolved with the expression and functionality of simplicity and geometry. Formally Cubism, Constructivism and Op-Art movements are created by different interpretations of geometry with size, structure and perspective. Functionality is the most important building block of modernism. The applications performed within the scope of the thesis are typography interpretations based on anamorphic art and shaped by orientation of geometry, dimensions and angles. They are also approached within terms of their application in public space and in a functional extent. Key Words: Anamorphic Design, Graphic Design, 3 Dimension, 2 Dimension, Visual Perception.
