Abstract (EN)

In this research, relationship between personal sense of uniqueness and irrational beliefs has been investigated, moreover interaction between irrational beliefs and personal sense of uniqueness on has been analyzed. There are very few studies in the literature on the sense of personal uniqueness. Beside that, there are many research has been conducted on Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy's irrational beliefs in mental health field. The Attitudes and Beliefs Scale 2 has been used to reveal the irrational beliefs of demanding, low frustration tolerance, awfulizing, self raiting, achievement expectation, comfort expectation and approval expectation. The Personal Sense of Uniqueness Scale has been assessed to measure the extent to how a person feels himself unique. Addition to analyzing demographical structure of the data, multiple linear regression models and correlation analysis are conducted in this study. Results indicated that all irrational beliefs negatively correlated to personal sense of uniqueness variable. It was also found that the irrational beliefs of demanding, self-rating, and low frustration tolerance predicted the variability of personal self of uniqueness when accompanied by approval expectations. In cases where the achievement expectation is accompanied by a irrational belief, it is seen that all irrational beliefs can not predict the variance of personal perception. Comfort expectation has only been found to be a predictor of personal sense of uniqueness variability when combined with demanding irrational belief.
