Evaluation of the 5th grade social sciences textbook prepared in the field of social sciences according to teacher's opinions (Afyonkarahisar sample)

The aim of this study is to examine the 5th grade social studies textbook, which was published in the 2019-2020 academic year, in terms of different aspects according to the opinions of teachers. The study group of the research, which was designed as a descriptive survey model, consisted of 122 social studies teachers working in secondary schools in Afyonkarahisar city center in the 2021-2022 academic year.The data were obtained by the questionnaire technique. The research data were obtained by using the "Textbook Review Questionnaire Form" developed by Ertürk and Güler (2017).As a result of the study, it was found that the average score obtained from the responses given by the teachers regarding the physical design, visual design, content, language and expression and measurement and evaluation dimension of the social studies textbook was quite sufficient.In addition, it was determined that the average score obtained from the responses given by the teachers regarding the physical design, visual design, content, language and expression of the social studies textbook and the measurement and evaluation dimension did not differ significantly in terms of gender and year of work experience variables.
