Abstract (EN)

The Turkish course provides opportunities for students in many ways, from transferring the rules of the language to expanding the usage area of the language and using the language correctly. It also aims to gain the four basic skills of the language. In addition, it also has target acquisitions such as providing cultural transfer, providing values education, educating students according to national and spiritual values, and equipping students by transferring knowledge. When we evaluate it in terms of these functions, the importance of the textbooks that students can easily access in Turkish teaching is understood once again. An important part of the textbooks is the texts. The texts to be used in Turkish textbooks should be chosen very carefully and should fully fulfill the feature of being a text. This only depends on whether the texts in question meet the criteria of textuality. The textuality criteria represent the elements necessary for a text to be a text. The aim of this study is to evaluate the texts based on telling, showing and informing selected from the 5th grade Turkish textbook and a total of 11 texts selected from the poems in the context of cohesion and coherence criteria and to determine to what extent the texts meet the criteria. For this purpose, it was examined in a qualitative design by document analysis method. Cohesion was examined under the headings of grammatical and lexical coherence. Within the scope of grammatical coherence, post-reference and pre-reference as reference elements, then ellipsis, substitution, parallelism, functional sentence perspective and tense and aspect and connection elements were examined. Under the heading of lexical coherence, the presence of repetition and collocation aspects in texts has been examined. Under the title of consistency, which represents the deep structure, the links of customization, generalization, comparison, cause-effect relationship and opposition are included. As a result of the study, it was determined that coherence, which is one of the textuality criteria, is provided more than consistency in the texts in the 5th grade Turkish textbooks. In the context of coherence, the biggest deficiency was replacement and pre-reference, while in terms of consistency, the relations of contrast, comparison and generalization were found to be weak. It is necessary to transfer the texts to the textbooks with a choice more appropriate to these criteria. As a result of the study titled "Coherence and Consistency Appearances in 5th Grade Turkish Textbooks", it was revealed that the missing elements in terms of cohesion and consistency criteria should be strengthened.
