Abstract (EN)
It is known from the literature that today, textbooks are primarily used in education systems. However, with the development of technological opportunities, electronic communication channels have also been used in addition to books. However, due to economic opportunities, ease of access and ease of use, textbooks will continue to be the most preferred course material - unless any alternative is produced. It is aimed for students to learn various outcomes from textbooks and transfer them to their daily lives. 6th grade textbooks contain different types of texts according to text types. It is thought that these texts selected for textbooks will have positive effects on the academic success of students. Within the scope of this research, the effect of the texts in the secondary school 6th grade Eksen Publications Turkish textbook on students' vocabulary was examined. The study conducted with quantitative research methods covers an education period. Within the scope of the research, students were classified as low, medium or good academic level. Three classes from the 6th grade of secondary school were included in the research. From each of these classes, three students with low, three average and three good academic levels were determined - based on their report card grade averages. A total of 27 students, 9 students from each grade (3 low, 3 medium, 3 good), were included in the research. 6 . 20 texts in the first grade Turkish textbook were the subject of the research. 27 students wrote two texts each, one before the texts in the textbook were processed and one after the texts were processed, for a total of 1080 texts. 4 texts were selected from 20 texts (universe) and the student texts obtained in the focus of these texts constituted the sample of our research. All the words in the student texts were analyzed using the "http://nlp.istanbulc.edu.tr/metinanaliz/" website and word frequency tables were created. The findings obtained from the tables were made more concrete with graphs. As a result of the research, it was observed that the texts in the Eksen Publications 6th grade Turkish textbook did not contribute to the vocabulary of the students.
