Abstract (EN)
In the research, it was aimed to determine the readability level of the texts in 6th grade Turkish textbooks belonging to different publishing houses. In this study, document analysis method was used. In the study, the readability of the texts in the 6th grade Turkish textbooks was examined according to the themes. In addition, the texts examined in the study were divided into text types, and the readability levels of the narrative and informative texts were determined. Since the readability formulas used were developed for prose and the word repetition of the poem type, text structure and sentence length differ from the prose, it was predicted that the readability analysis to be made in this type would not provide valid and reliable results, so the poem type was not included in the study. The aim of the study; It was to find the readability levels of the texts read so listening texts were not included in the study. Using two different readability formulas, 6th grade Turkish textbook texts used in 2019-2020 were evaluated. During the evaluation, the number of syllables, words and sentences of the texts were determined. These values, which give information about the reading level of the texts, were compared according to both readability formulas in terms of common and different themes. In the study, 46 texts were examined in terms of readability value. In the examination, it was determined that the readability levels of common and different theme texts vary according to publishing houses. In the results, it was determined that some common and different theme texts did not have readability value suitable for the target audience, and the readability status of the narrative texts was higher than the readability of the informative texts. At the end of the study, it was stated that textbook texts prepared by different publishing houses should have readability values suitable for the target audience in terms of theme-text relationship.
