The effect of 5e model supported by algodoo software in the simple machine unit of 8th grade science lesson

The aim of this study is to determine of 5E model supported by Algodoo software to academic achievement and attitude of 8th grade pupils in simple machines unit of Science lesson. Forty four students, who studied in Bingöl province Solhan town in 2016-2017 educational year, have constituted sample of research. 5E model has been implemented in the control group. 5E model supported by Algodoo software has been implemented in the experimental group. Quasi-experimental pattern has been used in this study. The implementation has lasted six weeks. The Simple Machines Academic Achievement Test (Ayazgök, 2013) and The Attitude Scale against Science lesson (Nuhoğlu, 2008) have been used in the study as data collection device. In the analysis of data, independent sample t-Test has been used in order to identify the differences of scores among two independent groups. Before and after education, paired sample t-Test has been used so as to evaluate each academic group's achievement. p < 0.05 level has been accepted a meaningful. When we research the scores of The Simple Machines Academic Achievement Test before implementation, is has been stated that the difference of avarages of the control and the experimental group is not meaningful statistically. After implementation, it has been stated that difference between the control and the experimental is in favour of the experimental group. According to the result of research, the academic achievement scores of the experimental group who used 5E model ssupported by Algodoo software in the Science lesson the topic of simple machine have risen. Before and after in educational process of pupils, it has been stated meaningless the difference of avarage scores between control and experimental group. There is no relationship between the attitudes of pupils in the control and experimental group in simple machines unit. The attitude to Science lesson is in medium level. Algodoo simulation software may be used while highlighting the topics in teaching Science lesson. Besides simple machines unit, it may be ussed in other units
