Russian national identity searches in A.S. Puşkin's creativity

The aim of this study is to understand the idea of nationalism that existed in the Russian state and nation in the first half of the 19th century, and the phenomenon of national identity that emerged as a result of common belongings. To examine the poetry and prose works of Pushkin. In order to examine the Russian national identities that the author reflects on his works, the development phases of the idea of nationalism shaped from the formation of the Russian state to the 19th century should be examined. In this context, in our thesis, it is aimed to explain the phenomenon of national identity from the emergence phase of the Russian state and to explain the meaning of nationalism and belonging that constituted the national identity until the first half of the 19th century, which is the main subject of our study, from the framework of Pushkin. In our study, in which the phases of Russian nationalism have been examined historically, the common belongings, historical memories, and the development of social awareness of the state, which brought together the Russian nation and how the elements forming its identity emerged, were based on the pre-foundation period of the state. In line with the sociological approaches related to nationalism, the formation of Russian nationalism and its nation is evaluated from different perspectives, and the phenomenon of national identity, which is positioned as the "other" within this framework, is examined. In this context, the Russian identity gained as a result of the national consciousness and cohesion that ensured the Russian nation to face the "other" and the difficulties in domestic politics were examined in the works of Pushkin, which is the subject of our study. Our study was completed in the first half of the 19th century, in discussions about how the fate of the nation and the state in Russian thought should be, by explaining the writer's Western thought and the nationalist thought that he created by synthesizing national values.
