The investigation of the machinability of AA 7075-T6 aluminium alloy with minimum quantity lubrication technique

Abstract (EN)

In this study, AA 7075-T6 aluminium alloy was machined using three different types of cooling tecniques, namely conventional, dry and minimum quantity of lubrication (MQL). The effects of machining parameters (V=125, 150, 175 m/min ; f=0.1, 0.15, 0.2 mm/rev and a=0.75, 1.0, 1.25 mm) and cooling tecniques on the average surface roughness, cutting tool temprature, machining vibration, cuttin tool wear, BUE and chip formation were experimentally determined. The lowest cutting tool wear values were achieved in MQL machining. The tendency of BUE was reduced in wet machining. Due to the BUE tendency, cutting tool wear was not measured in dry machining conditions. The worst surface rougheness were revealed in dry machining, while other two techniques showed almost near results. It is experimentally found that is possible to achieve better surface rougheness in MQL machining than conventional and dry conditions by using less cooling liquid.
