Abstract (EN)

This study, based on securitization theory, examines how discourse of different US presidents (Bush, Obama, Trump, and Biden) influenced a perception on Iran's nuclear program. Analyzing their public speeches and official documents from 2000 to 2024, the study reveals how each administration tried to securitize (or de-securitize) this issue. The study shows that Bush and Trump were more likely to securitize, presenting the Iranian program as an immediate threat. From the other side, Obama and Biden were looking for a diplomatic solution and reduced anxiety levels. The study demonstrates how language and rhetoric shapes threat perception and influences foreign policy, and highlights the value of securitization theory for understanding the dynamics of international relations.
