Evaluation of factors affecting mobility in patients undergoing abdominal region surgery

This study was performed in a descriptive type in order to determine the factors affecting mobility in patients undergoing abdominal region surgery. The research was collected in Gaziantep 25 December Public Hospital between September 2019 and December 2019 with Introductory Properties Questionnaire, Patient and Observer Mobility Scale, Factors Affecting Movement Questionnaire. The sample of the study consisted of 152 patients who had abdominal surgery. The average age of the patients is 46.61 ± 15.23 years, 59.2 % are women, 86.2 % are married, and 42.1 % are primary school graduates. It was determined that 52.7 % of patients had cholecystectomy and 32.9 % had hernia repair. The difference between the findings of life before and after the movement of the patients was found to be statistically significant (p <0.05). A positive weak correlation was found between the factors affecting the movement and the Observer Mobility Scale score (p <0.05). It was determined that the patients perceived pain (3.80 ± 0.86), felt dependent (3.93 ± 1.05), and had difficulty walking (4.00 ± 0.64) the most in the bed from one side to the other. Pain (3.76 ± 0.52), fear of opening / bleeding of the wound (3.62 ± 0.70), needing the family to move (3.47 ± 0.83) and equipment in the lower part of the body (foley catheter, drain) (3.44 ± 0.84) were the most important factors that prevented. Female patients (43.74 ± 5.66), those undergoing general anesthesia (43.32 ± 6.05), III. Mobility Affecting Factors Mean Points were higher in those who were obese (45.00 ± 5.96) and patients who underwent bariatric surgery (44.42 ± 6.71) (p <0.05). As a result; In this study, returning in bed causes the most pain and strain; Pain, fear of opening a wound, equipment on his body showed that patients are the most important conditions that affect movement. Obesity and those undergoing bariatric surgery for this were more adversely affected by factors related to movement. It was concluded that it would be beneficial for nurses to inform patients in accordance with the characteristics of the patients and the surgery they underwent, and to plan and implement interventions that make it safe and easy for them to act.
