The comperison of the pulmonary functions after the abdominal surgery by using Vest machine and Conventional lung physiotherapy methods

The objective of this study was to compare the pulmonary functions after the abdominal surgery by using vest machine and the conventional lung physiotherapy methods.46 patients who will underwent abdominal surgery included in the study. Patients were randomly divided into 2 groups. At the preoperative period; from the all patients blood gas analysis were recorded and to examine the lung capasity, the respiratuar functional tests were administered. To the first group, by the conventinal methods and to the second group by the vest machine the lung physiotherapy was processed. At the postoperative first day, the control blood gas analysis and respiratuar functional tests were recorded.In the vest group, after the surgery FVCml and FVC% were expressive high according to preoperative period(p<0.05). In both of the groups PaO2 and SpO2 were high at the postoperative period according to preoperative period.Between two groups; respiratory functıonal tests and blood gas analysis values have no diffrence preoperative and postoperative period (p>0.05). According to our study there were no diffrence at the postoperative pulmonary complications between two groups.In our study, the FVCml, FVC% levels of the vest machine group were significantly increased at the postoperative period. That shows us; the vest machine is beneficial at the respiration physiotherapy.In conclusıon; the vest machine have some advantages like no need to personal and economicai and standarized at the postoperative period to prevent the patients from the respiratory complications. We think that more studies which challenge the vest machines efficancy are needed.
