Abstract (EN)

Acidovorax avenae subsp. citrulli causes bacterial fruit blotch on watermelon. This disease causes important economic losses in many watermelon producing countries, also including our country. In this study, determination of general and semiselective media can be used for detection of epiphytic infection of pathogen from asymptomatic watermelon seedlings was investigated. Five general media (Nutrient Agar, King?s Medium B, Yeast Extract Calcium Carbonate Agar, Tryticase Soy Agar and Nutrient Broth Yeast Sucrose Agar) and seven semi selective media (WFB 08, WFB 44, WFB 68, EBBA, mEBB, PYDAC and P-278) were used in the study. Different growth of pathogen populations were also compared in so-called media.In conclusion, if Acidovorax avenae subsp. citrulli would like to be isolate from a clear population, general media, King?s Medium B and tryticase soy agar, and semiselective media, P-278 and EBBA or mEBB should be preferred. Semi selective media, P-278 and mEBB can be preferred for isolation of Acidovorax avenae subsp. citrulli from symptomatic or asymptomatic watermelon seedlings.
