Abstract (EN)
Railway station have been the subject of this thesis. The historical and architectural characteristics of railway stations in respect to the economical, social, cultural and political circumstance of the Ottoman Empire and the young Republic have been explored. Process of industrialization in XIX. century, development of railway lines in Europe and Ottoman railway lines and railway stations have been which were built and run by forcing companies have been investigated. In order to undertake such an investigation Mersin-Adana railway line was chosen as the case, as it was on the most significant railway line which is Baghdat Railway in Ottoman period. Railway stations on this line have been investigated in respect to their period of construction and the reflection of architectural understanding on the station buildings have been determined.
