Healing in Adyghe culture

There is no written transfer in Adyghe society. Society's memory and cultural accumulation are under the protection of the oral transmission tradition. This traditional discipline, in practice; corresponds as Healing with the issues such as folk medicine, faith, social order, social communication, along with in the content of folklore, which is a sub-branch of literature. First of all, in the discipline of healing experience; ongoing practices from the past of the society, protected practices, traditional approaches, beliefs and lifestyle codes are stored. This discipline is same as like language, it provides cultural transmission to future generations. Healers representing this healing discipline; as they are cultural carriers that blend their accumulation with people's beliefs by observing nature, finding and experiencing natural healing possibilities. Their impact on the protection of social accumulation is too important. Looking at the subject in chronological order; The infrastructure of the healing society of Adyghe society is as follows; • Mythological information from Proto Adiges shows that, the secrets of nature have been tried to be solved by magical methods such as healing, herbalism, talisman, magic. • Adıge society has been introduced to permanent settlement and collective life with their transition to agriculture. With this change, the protection of social health has taken its place in the rules of behavior and society with the help of the rich flora and geography. • The necessity of developing surgical methods and practices along with wars has emerged. • Due to social dispersion after migration; the existing accumulation has undergone a great deal of change and transformation and has been exposed to religious influences such as magic, prayers, spells and charms. Seteney, one of the mythological characters of the Nart epics; is a wise figure of Nart society and also is a physician, a fortune teller and a priest. In addition, also one of the mythological characters of the Nart epics; Tlepş rehabilitated the fractured hip bone of the wounded Nart boy with iron,and made an iron prosthesis for his broken leg. Archaeological findings in the Maykop Kurgan yielded a bronze scalpel estimated at 2800 years old; skulls which transplantations was performed on, skeletons with surgical interventions were revealed. These findings from the history of the Adyghe society shows the level of civilization that society has reached, and reveals the erosion of the society in its cultural accumulation in the historical process. The purpose of this study is; To demonstrate the degree of transmission of the knowledge of healing from the Proto Adyghes to today's Adyghes; to determine the rationale for the erosion of the Adygeian cultural memory in the face of the axis shift in the area. The study consists of three main parts; In the first chapter; General information about the concept of healing is given. The reasons of diseases, treatment methods and treatment sources are explained in the main lines. In the second part; The process of Adyge Healing from the mythological period to the present is dealt with together with the factors affecting this process. In the third chapter; preservation techniques and treatment of diseases transferred with examples Adyghe healers in Northwest Caucasus and Turkey, the findings of the treatment of Adyghe's in plant and animal diseases are also explained. In the conclusion of the study; all findings are presented in general inferences. As a result; in this study, by trying to record as much as possible the accumulation of this valuable knowledge, which has been hidden in the memory of the Adyge community and has already passed the danger of extinction; the factors causing cultural erosion in this area and the results of them tried to shown.
