The effect of adidactical situations on students? success and students? views on the situation

The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of Adidactical Situations (AS) on the success of the students and to reveal the students? views on the situation. In this study, activities have been developed in accordance with the phases of AS in order to teach these subjects: ?Pythagorean Theorem, The Factorization of Perfect Square Expressions and Multiplication with The Exponential Numbers.? The pilot practices have been performed in three different elementary schools with 92 students who are grade 7. The main practice has been made with 53 students who are in grade 8 of two different elementary schools. The Mixed Type was used in the study. Quasi-experimental design was used to gain of the quantitative data and Case study in the gain of the qualitative data. The quantitative data was collected with the help of pre and post tests; the qualitative data with the semi-structured interviews. Analysis of the quantitative data made with Independent Samples t Test in the program of SPSS 15.0. According to the t test results; when the post test points of the experimantal and control group are compared with each other, it has been seen that statistically there is not any meaningful difference between the success of groups. Although it is not statistically meaningful, considering the latest test averages, it has been seen that success of the students who are in Adidactical situations (AS) is higher than success of the learning environments that curriculum suggests. Semi-structured interviews made with the students chosen from experimental group. After the content analysis of the interviews, it has been found out about the AS that the students have expressed that: the self-confidence have been increased as they have felt themselves like scientists during learning process, it has had a positive effect on the motivation for lesson, it has provided more understanding as they reach the data by themselves and the permanency of data has been increased, the fear of making mistakes has been lowered and it has enabled them the freedom of speech. Based on these results, some suggestions have been made.
