Abstract (EN)

Aim and hypothesisThe aim of this study is to achieve osteogenic differantiation of adult stem cells from rabbit and to accomplish faster bone lengthening via entegration of this cells into new bone.Materials and MethodTwenty-one New Zealand rabbits were included in study. Subjects randomly divided to control, stem cell and differantiate stem cell groups (n=7). In Group I, distractor applied right after osteotomy and distraction process finished in 15 days. In Group II, adipose tissue obtained from inguinal region of rabbit, afterwards adipose derived stem cells obtained invitro conditions. This stem cells marked by ?green flourescent protein? (GFP) and injected to callus at the end of distraction process. In Group III stem cells obtained equally to Group II, then differantiation process applied and differantiate cells injected to callus likewise Group II. At the end of eight weeks subjects were sacrificed and evaluated radiologically, biomechanically and histopathologically.FindingsUnder the scope of the result of radiologically, it was observed that callus density and ossification rate increased in Group III, when compared to the Group I and Group II. According to biomechanical tests, the highest rates was determined in Group III. In histopathological studies, it was also observed that the quality of newly formed bone and the cells active in bone formation were significantly higher in Group III when compared to the Group I and IIResultsDepending on these results, it can be concluded that, the consolidation period of distraction osteogenesis shortens by applying the adipose derived stem cells of which undergo osteogenic differantiation.
