Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to examine the effects of aerobic and anaerobic exercise on the levels of tryptophan, serotonin, kynurenine, kynurenic acid, indoleamine-2,3 dioxygenase (IDO), tryptophan-2,3 dioxygenase (TDO), piconilic acid, tryptophan hydroxylase and quinolinic acid. A total of 24 male athletes between the ages of 18-30, studying at the School of Physical Education and Sports at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University, participated in the study, including 8 control groups, 8 aerobic training groups and 8 anaerobic training groups. In the research, a cross-sectional study was conducted on groups using a quantitative research model. Blood parameters of tryptophan, serotonin, kynurenine, kynurenic acid, indoleamine-2,3 dioxygenase (IDO), tryptophan-2,3 dioxygenase (TDO), piconilic acid, tryptophan hydroxylase and quinolinic acid were examined from the participants. SPSS 17 package program was used to analyze the data. In the intra-group evaluation; Paired Sample t test was applied for parametric in pair groups, and One-Way Anova test was applied for intergroup testing. Data were evaluated at the p<0.05 significance level. As a result of the analyses, considering the intra-group comparisons of tryptophan, serotonin, kynurenine, kynurenic acid, indoleamine-2,3 dioxygenase (IDO), tryptophan-2,3 dioxygenase (TDO), piconilic acid and quinolinic acid blood parameters, serotonin, kynurenic acid and A significant difference was seen in picolinic acid pre-post test comparisons (p<0.05). This difference occurred in the direction of an increase in serum serotonin, kynurenic acid and picolinic acid levels. In the intra-anaerobic group comparison, a significant difference was seen in the pre-post test comparisons of kynurenic acid, picolinic acid, tryptophan hydroxylase and kynurenine (p<0.05). This difference occurred in the direction of an increase in the serum kynurenic acid, picolinic acid, tryptophan hydroxylase and kynurenine levels. When comparing serotonin between groups, the difference between the aerobic and anaerobic groups was significant compared to the control group (p <0.05). When comparing quinolinic acid and tryptophan between groups, the difference between the aerobic group compared to the control and anaerobic training groups was significant (p <0.05). In the intergroup comparison of picolinic acid, the difference between the anaerobic group compared to the control and aerobic training groups was significant (p<0.05). In conclusion; It was observed that regular aerobic and anaerobic exercises increased the levels of tryptophan, serotonin, kynurenine, tryptophan 2-3 dioxygenase, kynurenic acid, picolinic acid and tryptophan hydroxylase. It was also observed that aerobic exercise increased the levels of tryptophan, serotonin, kynurenine, indoleamine 2-3 dioxygenase, tryptophan 2-3 dioxygenase, kynurenic acid, picolinic acid, quinolinic acid and tryptophan hydroxylase. It was concluded that anaerobic treatment reduced quinolinic acid and indoleamine 2-3 dioxygenase levels Key words: Aerobic exercise, Anaerobic exercise, Tryptophan, Serotonin, Kynurenine Pathway
