Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to determine the effects of xylo-oligosaccharides in aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) contaminated broiler diets on the reduction of feed-induced damage in broilers. The study was carried out at the Faculty of Agriculture of Tikrit University between 16/10/2022 and 20/11/2022 for 35 days with 180 7-day-old Ross 308 chicks without gender discrimination. In this study, xylo-oligosaccharides (0.4% and 0.8% g/kg) were added to broiler diets containing 3 mg/kg AFB1. The diets of the experimental groups were formed as AFB1 and xylo-oligosaccharide-free, AFB1-only or xylo-oligosaccharide-only. The groups were evaluated in terms of weekly average live weight, weekly weight gain, feed intake, feed conversion ratio, weight of fabricia and weight of internal organs. Statistical analyses showed that feeding AFB1 contaminated feed caused a decrease in weekly and final weight, weekly and final weight gain, weekly feed consumption and an increase in feed conversion ratio. When the internal organ weights were evaluated, it was determined that AFB1 had a negative effect. The use of xylo-oligosaccharide alone did not show a significant difference in performance effects, but only caused an increase in abdominal fat. It was observed that the use of AFB1 + xylo-oligosaccharide reduced the negative effects of AFB1 alone. It was concluded that adding xylo-oligosaccharide, especially at the rate of 0.8%, was effective in eliminating the negative effects of AFB1 in broiler chickens.
