Abstract (EN)
Wooden is one of the most important construction materials. Being hygroscopic, anisotropic and organic forms are the important characteristics for a wood material. Wooden is weak against the external effects. So, it is necessary to apply proper protection techniques to improve its economic life. In this study, the effects of the heat treatment of wooden materials on hardness, brightness and adhesive resistance of varnishes were investigated. For this purpose, firstly scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.), beech (Fagus orientalis L). and chestnut (Castanea sativa M.) wooden samples were kept in temperatures of 100 ?C, 125 ?C and 150 ?C for times of 2, 4 and 6 hours. and after that they were varnished by the water based varnish. In the experimental applications of the whole wood species are seen couple component varnish according to single component varnish which is highest grade values.According to test results, hardness resistance of non-treated samples and the samples subjected to heat teatment at 100?C (2 hours) were seen better than those samples subjected to heat treatment at 100?C (4 and 6 hours and), 150?C and 200?C (2, 4 and 6 hours). It was observed that the adhesion resistance of non-treated samples were better than those samples subjected to heat treatment at 100?C, 150?C and 200?C (2, 4 and 6 hours). It was also seen that brightness of all samples subjected to heat treatment at 100?C, 150?C and 200?C (2, 4 and 6 hours)wereweak.Key Words: Heat treatment, hardness, brightness, adhesive resistance, water based varnish
