Abstract (EN)

Ahmad al-Jam is an important Sufi who wrote many works and has his own unique views. In this study, Ahmad al-Jam's views on knowledge were examined. In the first part of the study; Ahmad al-Jam's life and works were examined. Information is given about Jam's youth, his affiliation with Sufism, his seclusion, and his travels. Ahmad al-Jam's relationship with Kalenderîs, Bâtınîs and Kerrâmîs was examined. His contact with Sultan Sencer was examined. In the second part; The method of reaching gnosis and the concepts related to it are discussed. Ahmad al-Jam's views, especially regarding asceticism and subtleties, were discussed in a comparative manner with other Sufis. Ahmad al-Jam's approach to the subject of the light of Muhammad is important because Ahmad al-Jam sees the light of Muhammad as the source of knowledge. Ahmad al-Jam's views on the soul differ from many Sufis before him, so it is important as it is a new approach. In the third part of the study, the nature of knowledge was examined. First of all, the information in Ahmad al-Jam's works and in Makâmât-ı Jendepîl, where his life is described, was reviewed and classified. Accordingly, marifetullah, knowledge of self, ishari tafsir, knowledge of unseen events constitute the first part. Their views on ways to obtain information are examined under a separate heading. It has been determined that Ahmad al-Jam was in agreement with many Sunni Sufis on the subject of marifetullah. His explanations regarding the nature of man regarding marifetü'n-nefs are interesting. Information about Hızır, dreams and the future was mentioned a lot in the work called Makâmât-ı Jendepîl, and this information was compared with the works of Ahmad al-Jam and the views of other Sufis. Ahmad al-Jam's interpretations in the symbolic sense are shown with examples. Keywords: Sūfīsm, Ahmad al-Jam,ʿIlm al-Ladun (Innate Science),Maʿrifat, Inspiration, Knowledge.
