An analysis on the elements of folklore in Ahmet Uluçay's works

Reflecting the relationship between cinema and truth in his works, Ahmet Uluçay emerged as a director who could benefit from our local cultural treasure in its most natural form. He fell in love with shooting films in the village where he lived with all of the impossibilities, and as in his terms he had a love of "wiggling the films" in his works that tell about the metaphysics with natural elements. Ahmet Uluçay feeds on local and national culture with the language and style he uses. The environment where Ahmet Uluçay spent his life, a clear, plain, unspoilt, intact language, culture and folklore had a great role in this. The works of Ahmet Uluçay appear as a place where national folklore and Anatolian belief systems are handled with extraordinary simplicity and naturalness. Uluçay integrated local culture and folklore with the art that he presented with universal values. Uluçay, who did not lose touch with reality in his works, dealt with human relations in the rural atmosphere by depending on our own social values. Uluçay cinema, in this context, in his own terms, is a visual restatement of life and its writing in a cinematic language. Ahmet Uluçay, throughout his career, struggled to explain himself without falling into tragedy by using the possibilities of cinema as an art branch, despite all the difficulties he faced throughout his life. In this study, we examined Uluçay's works in terms of folkloric elements. Considering the relationship between cinema and folk culture, we aimed to present the folkloric elements in Ahmet Uluçay's works.
