Abstract (EN)
Social networks are the outcomes of the development in communication technologies and they have become the new media environment. In terms of their easy and fast accessibility, social networks are the platforms whose users have been increasing day by day. Here, individuals can access these platforms every day, establish various social relations and share information. Social networks have constructive effects on individuals such as; users can have easy and fast access to information, social networks enable information sharing and they can accelerate social and active learning process of the individuals. However, social networks can have negative social, economic and psychological effects on individuals? lives depending on the aim of usage and the time spent on it. Individuals? work performance decreases and as a result their work quality decreases; communication disorders and asocialization can occur as a result of long duration social network website accession; difficulty in the accession of straight and scientific information sources can occur and all these can affect the individual?s life and the people around him/her negatively. In this context, we will study the time spent on social networks by academicians and administrative staff of nine universities.
