Determining the effectiveness of different attractants for Ceratitis capitata Wied. (Diptera:Tephritidae)

Abstract (EN)

Ceratitis capitata Wied. (Diptera: Tephritidae) is an important pest that causes openings on many fruit varieties. In general, for controling this pest, chemical and biotechnical control methods were used. However, recently, biotechnical control has appeared as the first strategy control because this pest has developed resistance to the new insecticides used. In this study, different chemical products and their combinations were investigated to control C. capitata for two years. In this study, ten different chemical products were used. From them, the most efficacy of five was selected and then compared their efficiencies in double and triple combinations separately. On the other hand, commercially, the attractiveness effects of four used trap-lure combinations were compared to each other. The attractiveness combinations of the traps were; Ceratrap, Lastfly, Magnet, and Decis trap in which a mixture of CU/TZL-(102+106+109) that were prepared in the laboratory. As the results of this study, the most effective chemical products were selected such as the number CU/TZL-102 and CU/TZL-109 in both years. The binary combination of the chemical products from those numbers CU/TZL-102+109 during two years showed more attractive effects. In the triple combinations, during the two years of the trial, the arrangement of chemical product numbers CU/TZL-(102+106+109) of was severely proved their efficacy. Consequently, the mixture of trap-lure, Decis trap + CU/TZL-(102+106+109) was the highest attractiveness in the first year, while Lastfly itself was most captured in the second year in terms of the number of this pest.
