Abstract (EN)
Abortus, one of thebiggest problem of thesheepfarming,is a multifactorielpragnancycomplication. Howeverthereasons of aborts can be different,it is knownthatoksidativestresstakespart in patologicalprocess. A reliablebiochemicalbiomarker has not beenproposedfortheearlyprediction of possibleabortcases in sheep yet. Itwasregarded as IschemiaModifiedAlbumin (IMA) is an oxidativestressbiomarker. Instudies on humanshavebeenexplainedthat IMA is elevated in diseasesrelatedtooxidativestressandcomplicatedpregnancies. Inthisstudy, it wasaimedtorevealtherelationshipbetweenprevalence of maternal serum IMA andoxidativestressmarkers in theearlydiagnosis of abortus in sheep. Serum samples of 148 Akkaraman sheepbreedweretaken, 135 of whichwerebetween1.5-2.5 months of pregnancyand 13 of non-pregnant. Serums of abortedsheepthat (n= 22) in recentperiods of theirpregnancieswereisolatedfromtheunabortedones. A positivecontrolgroupwasselectedamongthenon-abortedgroup (n= 24). Inaddition, bloodsamplestakenfromnon-pregnantsheep (n= 13) werealsostudiedtodescribetheeffect of physiologicalchanges. Serum IMA and IMAR (a rangedaccordingtoitsalbumin) levelswerefoundto be significantlyhigher in abortedsheepcomparedtohealthypregnancies (p<0.05 and p<0.05respectively). Whilethe Total oxidativestress(TOS)levelwasincreased(p<0.001) in abortedsheepcomparedtohealthypregnancies, theTotal antioxsidantstatusTAS levelwasdecreased(p<0.001) significantly. Inaddition, Oxidative stress index (OSI)valueswerestatisticallysignificantlyhigher in abortionrecipientscomparedtohealthycontrols (p<0.001). As a results, weconcludedthat serum IMA could be used in theearlypostpartumperiod in sheepandalso it wasconcludedthat IMA valuecould be an importantauxiliaryparameterforclinicians. Nevertheless, there is a needformoreresearchabout IMA in differentperiods of thepregnancy in ordertoevaluatetherelationshipbetweenabortand IMA in thesheep in a betterway.
