Abstract (EN)
Today's cities and megacities bring along many technical and physical problems such as difficulties in waste management, depletion of natural resources, air pollution, traffic congestion, human health problems and aging infrastructures. The rapidly increasing urban population makes it difficult to provide livable conditions, which increases the interest in the smart city concept. Smart cities have represented an approach that aims at efficient use of resources by prioritising environmental sustainability. This concept has emerged by integrating many areas such as energy, transportation, water management, security and education with advanced technologies and managing them from a centre. With the increasing population and the gradual decrease in water resources, especially water management has become an integral part of smart cities. Smart water management is an approach that utilises modern technologies and data analysis to ensure more efficient, sustainable and effective management of water resources. These systems aim to optimise water management by improving data collection, analysis and decision-making processes. In this study, it is aimed to examine the effect of new generation electric motors on efficiency together with remote monitoring/management and data analytics applications, which are part of smart water management systems, in order to increase energy efficiency in ISKI Kağıthane Eski Pumping Station. In the study, the existing structure of ISKI Kağıthane Eski Pumping Station was considered, the energy consumption profiles of the existing systems were examined in detail as a result of the revision operations, and the efficiency improvement potentials were determined. The integration of energy efficient motors into existing systems has been evaluated in terms of energy consumption, cost advantages and environmental impacts. In the light of the literature review and field studies, it has been determined that the replacement of old generation motors with new generation electric motors provides significant savings in energy consumption. The study also aims to contribute to the energy efficiency-oriented transformation of pumping stations, which are a part of water management for water administrations.
