An examination on architectural heritage of Early Republican Period in the city centre of Aksaray

This study examines the official and administrative architectural heritage that were built during the Early Republican Period in the city of Aksaray, which was defined as a province in 1920. The study focused on architectural features, contextual characteristics and restoration processes of the selected buildings. In order to undertake the examination old photos, surveys, restoration and restitution projects of the buildings are used as well as archival records, and content analysis was conducted. The examination revealed that Early Republican examples in the city centre of Aksaray reflected the characteristics of the 1st National Movement which was effective then. The study also revealed that the buildings included local architectural features that can be considered unique.
