Abstract (EN)
In this study, the presence of metazoan ectoparasites on 7 Cyprinus carpio and 90Cobitis simplicispinna from Lake Akşehir, Turkey were investigated between July2004 and June 2005. Three parasite species were identified in the host fishes:Gyrodactylus elegans, Nordmann, 1832; Gyrodactylus cobitis Bykhovskii, 1933;Dactylogyrus extensus Mueller and Van Cleave, 1932 (Monogenoidea,Platyhelminthes). From these species, Gyrodactylus elegans (%42,9; 293,6±482,0parasite/fish) and Dactylogyrus extensus (%85,7; 9,8±6,8), were found on gills ofC. carpio, and G. cobitis (%68,9; 15,6±18,5) on gills and fins ofC. simplicispinna. G. cobitis is a new record for parasite fauna of Turkey. Amongthese parasites described G. cobitis above mentioned is the new records forparasite fauna of Turkey. The characteristic structure of these parasite specieswere described using figures. In addition, minimum-maximum and mean intensityof parasites and infection prevalence were determined using seasonal data andsize distribution of the host fish.2006, 52 pagesKey Words: Cobitis, Cyprinus, Gyrodactylus elegans, Gyrodactylus cobitis, helminth, Lake Akşehir, parasitev
