Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to inverstigate the effectiveness of the science and technology education supported by active learning techniques on learning outcomes. This study was made with 64 students at 5B and 5C classrooms in Ankara Kılıçali Pasa Elementary School in Çankaya during the first term of 2006-2007 education year. One of the classes was assigned as a control group and the other one was assigned as experimentel group randomly. During the ?Matter and Change? unit in science and technology lesson, active learning techniques was used in experimental group and traditional approach was used in control group by researcher. In this study, pretest-posttest control group design was used. The datum of this study were gathered with academic achievement test, questionnaire of attitutes toward science and technology lesson, Torrance?s creative thinking test(figural a form) and interview form. Also, individual knowledge form was used to identify the students which were the sample of this study. SPSS 15 packed program was used for statistical analysis of quantitative datum collected. T-test, ANOVA, ANCOVA and MANCOVA was used to test this vi study?s hypothesis. Hyperresearch program was used for statistical analysis of qualitative datum. According to quantitative and qualitative analysis: ? The science and technology education supported by active learning techniques has a significantly effect on students? academic achievement, the durability of the academic achievement?s influence, creative thinking, elaboration of creative thinking, attitudes toward science and technology lesson. ? Qualitative analysis results support the quantitative analysis results.
