Abstract (EN)

Adolescence is a sensitive period in which an individual questions his identity andbegins to find it. In this period, adolescents are affected by the communication styles intheir family and they rather mirror their various distresses to their families when theirego is formed. Also, it is inevitable that communication problems in their families quiteaffect themselves. In this research, it has been determined how much four differentfamily communication styles affect the egocentrism of adolescents-namely how muchan individual is pleased with himself. These 4 groups - Consensual CommunicationStyle, Pluralistic Communication Style, Protective Communication Style, Laissez-faireCommunication Style-have been studied by having applied to a workgroup composedof low, medium and high egocentrism degree. This styles are corraleted withConformity Oriented Family and Conversation Oriented Family. Marking has beenmade by the help of the Chi Square Test and it has been scrutinized that thecommunication in the adolescents? family has changed from ?egalitarian? tomonopolist. Adolescents living in more egalitarian families have more egocentrism. Ithas been intended that this research contributes to both individual improvement unitsand communication consultants. Studies done about the problems of adolescents showthat if an adolescent?s problem?s solution is healthy enough, his future life will be morehealth.
