The effects of perceived social support and emotional intelligence on depression: Applied to students of Osmaniye Korkut Ata Universi̇ty

This research is made for finding out the impacts of perception in the social support of external and internal environment and the research provides information related to connection between emotional sense and depressional feelings. Research group consist of 93 women and 107 men who study at Osmaniye Korkut Ata University between 2013-2014 and take place in this research voluntarily. To measure the level of social support, method of "multi-faceted social support perception measurement" has been used which has created by Zimet, Dahlem and their colleagues. And Evaluation of the level of emotional sense has been benefited from Schutte's and Chan's Measurement (is reduced from 33 topics to 12). For obtaining Depression level we used "Beck Depression Inventory. Beside of all of these previous meausurements, independent variables such as age, sex, habitat and income levels are collected from each participants. Analyzing of Datas has been made by 18 Package of SPSS programme; additional to those ;reliability, regression and correlation analysises also used. Results of Research shows that there is a adverse proportion between the level of perception in social support and depression levels; as long as social support from environment increases, depression level is likely to be reduced and due to results we can consider emotional sense has also adverse relation to depression as perception does; if the sense is high then depression would be at a low level.
