Abstract (EN)
The 19th century, also known as the Second Reich period, was a period that enabled the German Empire, which was united under the leadership of Prussia, to engage in expansion and colonial movements. In particular, the foundations of Germany's colonialism in East Africa were laid in this period and at this point, the German East Africa Company provided important connections. In general, this process, which started in the 1884s, continued until Germany's defeat in World War I and the balance in East Africa changed in favour of Britain. While German colonialism continued, Germany encountered serious resistance in this geography. Especially the Arab Revolt and Maji Maji Revolt can be evaluated in this context. Although the fact that the Muslims of East Africa asked for help from the Ottoman Empire on the basis of the caliphate led the Ottoman Empire to take a closer interest in this geography, it is possible to say that the Ottoman Empire could not support this geography sufficiently in this period due to the caliph's difficult situation in domestic politics and its inability to be in the desired position in the international balance of power. This situation led the Muslims of East Africa to different searches and paved the way for their struggles in this direction.
