Abstract (EN)
İn this article, a qualitative study is aimes at evaluating the mental ability of dermatolohic patients with alopecia areata by psychoanalytically oriented clinical observation and interview. This study consists of two sections: (1) theoric section, (2) clinical section. According to the information obtained from literature research; mental ability plays an importans role in psychosomatic diseases. Because of that, in this study, the mental abilities of alopecia areata patients among skin and veneral diseases were examined through psychotherapy. As a result of the research, informations about psychological structuring were obtained besides object relations. The age range of individuals participating in the study is between 18 and 36 years. Also 3 of these participants are women. On behalf of evaluation of the mental abilitiy and to observe the effect of psychotherapy, psychoanalytically oriented sessions have been plannes for these participants. The sessions whith each patient were plannes once a week for 45 minutes but the number of sessions with each patient varied. The sessions were analyzed according to French psychosomatic school and psychoanalytic theory. When the information obtained from the analyzes of the cases is evaluated, it is possible to see that each case occurs around a loss although the alopecia areata disease ponints to a different point within its own subjectivity. Thiss loss ise experienced on the real and symbolic plane. The clinical study gave rise to the thought, that patients can not exist in discourse, that they have difficulty in positioning themselves as a desirable subject, and that their mental ability is limited. İt is possible to say that psychoanalytically oriented clinical interviews ranging form 4 to 7 months support mental ability in these patients. Key Words: Alopecia areata, psychosomatic, mentalization, psychoanalysis
