SIX SIGMA METHODOLOGYAND A PRACTICE IN ELECTRICAL INDUSTRY(M.Sc. Thesis)Gökçe ÖZGENGAZİ UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYSeptember 2006ABSTRACTIn this thesis, Six Sigma Methodology has been introduced and animplementation has been made in a company. Quality and statisticaltechniques were used effectively in Six Sigma Methodology which iscomposed of five general steps. The objective of Six Sigma which is aprocess improvement technique, is to reduce defect rate to 3,4products/servives among 1 million products/servives. The objective ofthe implementation is to find the negative factors on setup process, toreduce the variance and increase the sigma level by means of using SixSigma Methodology. To reach the target, a project team was assigned, quality techniques (detailed process analysis etc.) and statisticaltechniques (hypthesis tests, graphical analysis etc.) were used duringimplementation.Science Code : 906.1.070Key Words : Six Sigma, process improvement, statistical techniquesPage Number : 72Adviser : Prof. Dr. Fevzi KUTAY
