The determination of some important agronomic and quality traits of some peanut varieties having different pod characteristics at different harvesting times in main and double crop growing condiations

The objective of this study was to determine the growing possibilities, yield potential and quality traits of some peanut varieties having different growth characteristics in different market types as a main and double crop in Cukurova region. This study was conducted in the experimental area of the Department of Field Crops, Faculty of Agriculture, Cukurova University as a main and double crop in 2015 and 2016. The experimental design was a split plot with three replications. Five peanut varieties including Halisbey, NC-7, G.Green, Florispan and G.Red belonging to four different market types were used as a plant material in this research. According to a two year average, the differences between the peanut varieties were significant for the investigated traits at different harvesting times in main and double crop growing periods. The results indicated that the data belonging to pod number and pod weight per plant, the percentage of first quality pod number, 100 pod and 100 seed weight, shelling percentage, maturity index, pod and seed yield per decare, oil percentage and crude oil yield per decare, stiffness force value and harvesting loses were increased when the harvesting was delayed, and that rupture force value of pegs and protein percentage of seed were decreased. Otherwise, stearic, oleic and linolenic acids percentage of the peanut varieties were increased, but palmitic, lignoceric, linoleik, behenic and aracidic acids percentage were decreased when the harvesting delayed in both growing periods.
