Abstract (EN)
In this Ph.D thesis; a new semi-transparent skylight system is designed to illuminate the objects displayed in the ?Arasta Hall? of Anatolian Civilizations Museum in Ankara, with natural lighting according to illumination standarts. For this purpose; in the first phase, the existing skylight of the building is evaluated and deficiencies are determined. In the second phase; museums illuminated by daylight are examined and skylights of these museums are classified in two titles named ?one layer skylight systems? and ?double layered skylight systems? according to their direction and the number of layers. These skylights are modelled by a software and these models are applied to the existing structure virtually. In the third phase, a proposal is made on a new skylight system which is a ?double layered skylight with movable sunlight shading devices? which is then compared to the virtually simulated skylights. The result showed that the proposed skylight system is much more advantageous for natural lighting of ?Arasta Hall? of Anatolian Civilizations Museum in Ankara when compared to ?one layer skylight systems? and ?double layered skylight systems? examined in this thesis.
