The effects of anaerobic trainings on central-peripheral fatigue and recovery periods

Abstract (EN)

Fatigue can be defined as ? the decrease to maintain the expected force or power?. Fatigue may occur at firstly supraspinal levels, neuromuscular junction and muscle itself. Sprint trainings can improve anaerobic and aerobic performance. In this study it was aimed to evaluate the effect of sprint training on acute fatigue. 16 male subjects (mean age 23±3, height 176±4 cm, body mass 70±6 kg and VO2max 60,1±5,8 ml/kg/min ) volunteered fort the study.The sprint exercise comprised of 30 m running and continued 5 weeks (3 day per week) and 30 sec recovery was applied between sprints. Subjects achieved ten maximal sprint at the last week.Before and after training, 30 m maximal sprint performance, maximal knee isometric voluntary contraction strength, EMG measure while maximal contraction and electrostimulation on muscle were measured before and after fatigue test. Fatigue test was applied on bicycle as 80 rpm and 3 min load. 3 min recovery were done inter 3 min load. Fatigue test was started 60 W/min and 10 W loaded every minute. After exhaustion lactate, K+, Na+, Pi, CK and LDH levels were measured.After fatigue test maximal voluntary contraction ( MVC) decreased, serum K+, Na+, Pi, CK and LDH levels increased. While maximal strength decreasing mean firing frequencies of quadriceps decreased. The strength of electric stimulation decreased after fatigue test. The electric stimulation during MVC did not lead to the increase in the muscle force before and after fatigue. EMG measurements showed that rectus femorise is the most effective muscle in this isometric contraction.It was measured the increasing in MVC, VO2max, exhaustion time and improve sprint performance. The subjects produced more lactate after sprint training. Resting and fatigue blood marker, responses to electric stimulation and EMG were not affected by training.In summary it is suggested that sprint training resulted in aerobic and anaerobic adaptations. Any force increase by electric stimulation while MVC, suggested that the importance of peripheral factors in fatigue and that all subjects could activate all muscle fiber near fully.
