Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT Physical activity and regular exercise have important roles on human health via regulation of energy-metabolism balance and oxidative stress. In this study, we aimed to comparatively investigate the effects of acute aerobic exercise on energy related hormones of irisin and nesfatin-1, and also oxidant-antioxidant systems on trained and sedentary subjects. Total of 28 (n=14 trained and n=14 sedanter) male subjects performed 45 minutes of aerobic running exercise, between in 08:00 to 10:00. Venous blood samples (5 ml) were taken before and after exercise. Irisin, nesfatin-1, glutathione levels were analysed using a commercial Enzyme Linked-Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) kit. Asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) ve malondialdehyde (MDA) were analysed using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). Nesfatin-1 levels did not significantly change after acute aerobic exercise in both groups. Irisin levels increased in all subjects in both groups. ADMA and MDA reflecting oxidative stress increases significantly after aerobic exercise in both groups. Glutathione reflecting antioxidant status decreased in both groups. Nesfatin-1 is no an exercise ralated hormone, but irisin is an exercise related hormone. In addition, oxidant- antioxidant systems affected during acute aerobic exercise. This affect can be seen higher in sedantery subjects. Key Words: Acute Aerobic Exercise, Metabolism, Oxidative stress, Irisin, Nesfatin-1.
