THESISINVESTIGATED OF EFFECT OF TEMPRATURE TO SUBSTRATEREMOVAL KINETIC IN ANAEROBIC FILTERSelin YÜCEERÇUKUROVA UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF NATURAL AND APPLIED SCIENCESDEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERINGSupervisor: Prof. Dr. Ahmet YÜCEERYear : 2006 Pages : 95Jury : Prof. Dr. Ahmet YÜCEERAssoc.Prof.Dr. Mesut BASIBUYUKProf. Ilyas DEHRIThe aim of this study is investigation of treatment efficiency due to differentpollution loading rates and temparatues by using a lab-scale up-flow packed-bedanaerobic filter fed with the synthetic wastewaters at 25 and 35 ºC temperatures.Reactor was fed by synthetic wastewaters for 24 hrs hydraulic retention time.Firstly, It was fed with synthetic wastewaters which organic loading 3, 6, 9, 12 ve 15g COD/l. at 35 ºC. Secondly It was fed with synthetic wastewaters at 25 ºC by sameloading. The system was observed for COD, pH, NH3-N, alkalinity and TSS at theoutflow and the produced bio-gas volume. The results of this study for both oftemperatures were evaluated to adopt kinetic model of Stover-Kincannon.The studies demonstrated that the anaerobic filter was able to show up to 90%COD removal efficiency for 35 ºC. As the same condition, 80% removal efficiencyof COD was obtained for 25 ºC. With aplication of kinetic model for analyze resultswere obtained Umax: 76,336 g/L-day, KB: 76,31 g/L-day for 35 ºC and Umax: 41,49g/L-day, KB: 42,88 g/L-day for 25 ºC.Keywords : Anaerobic Filter; Low temperatures; Stover Kincannon
