Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, a speed controlled switched reluctance motor (SRM) has been used to drive a water pump that has nonlinear characteristics and low efficiency. Capacity and total head have been adjusted by changing the speed of the water pump. Experimental results show that efficiency of the water pump system driven by a SRM is %27,62 much higher than efficiency of the water pump system driven by induction motor that has equal power rating with SRM. The SRM was controlled with microcontroller PIC16F877. A classical converter for both operation and the current control, and a step-down converter for speed control and the voltage control of the SRM were designed and implemented. The motor speed, input and output heads can be observed on a LCD display with 2x16 characters, and the motor reference speed can be set, or altered by a 16 characters push-button set placed on the experimental set.
