A research on Ankara handwork quilts

In this research, manufacture of Ankara handwork quilts, used tools in such manufactures, patterns and composition features were evaluated through skimming the quilt literature.Ankara handwork quilts comprises the universe of the research. 80 quilts included in the universe of the research were selected by sampling, and pattern drawings and information about features thereof are given. The research consists of 5 parts and 223 pages.In the first part; problem of the research is taken into consideration. It is aimed at advertising the Ankara handwork quilts and determining patterns and materials used in such quilts.In the second part; Ankara province, ancient handcrafts of Ankara, definition and history of quilting, used materials and tools as well as counterpanes, ornaments and patterns used in quilts are discussed in detail. Books and articles referenced in literature abstracts are described with their contents.In the third part; universe and sampling of the research and data collection and analyzes are described in detail in parallel to the process followed in the research.Information obtained from the region are given in the findings and comment part. Also photographs and drawings of the quilts included in the scope of sampling are given together with informative notes and results are represented in tables.In the fifth part; data obtained as a result of the research and offers are stated by the researcher. For the quilts manufactured in Ankara, cotton or wool is used as the filling material, and satin is used as the fabric and quilt lining is preferred andthey are usually prepared as child or double quilt.
